Beşiktaş – Galatasaray derby ends in a three all draw

Derby hosts Beşiktaş's three goals last night by Melo (in his own post) and two by Holosko were not enough to secure a win due to a debated call by referee Bülent Yıldırım. Galatasaray managed to come up from behind however with goals by Elmander and Umut and a controversial penalty by Selçuk.
Beşiktaş's Slovak player Filip Holosko was trouble for Galatasaray last night as he didn't forgive any of his rival's errors and staked out Muslera not once but twice. Holosko was undoubtedly the star of the game. He was constantly engaged in positions and was in the right place at the right time for his two scores. The most unfortunate player in last night's game however was Beşiktaş's Mustafa Pektemek who not only had to depart the game early due to an injury, but is also expected to not return to the field for awhile.
GALATASARAY MAINTAINED HOPE
Galatasaray's Umut Bulut, who after scoring two goals against Fenerbahçe to bring home the Super Cup went on to bring down Kasımpaşa with another two scores at the start of the league, was the most valuable player on the visiting team once again in last night's derby. After over three clear positions in the first half of the game, and one that could have been a goal in just the 20th second, nearing halftime Umut managed to score in a mix-up by Beşiktaş's defense, bringing the score up to 2-2. In official games played thus far this season, Umut has already managed to score five goals.
THE GOALS OF THE GAME
In the eighth minute, Galatasaray's Melo scored into his own post past Muslera: 1-0. In the 20th minute, Uğur Boral was unable to distance a center pass by Emre. Cenk was unable to save Elmander's shot that followed bringing the score to a 1-1 tie. In the 43rd minute, when Semih missed a pass from Melo, Holosko was there to turn the chance into a position and with a strong strike sent the ball into the far corner of the post: 2-1. As the first half was nearing a close a corner shot by Selçuk resulted in mixing up the penalty field, which allowed for Umut to score Galatasaray's second goal, bringing the score to a 2-2 draw going into halftime. In the 51st minute, a mistake by Hakan Balta was rectified with a goal by Holosko, bringing hosts Beşiktaş the lead and their third goal. However, a penalty shot by Selçuk in the 86th minute of the game finalized the three-all draw.
THE MOMENT OF DESTINY
The position missed by Umut in just the 20th second of the game, could have determined the outcome of last night's derby. However, it wasn't to be and instead a last minute penalty ruling became the moment of destiny. Even if there had been a foul in the position between Burak and Escude, it took place outside of the penalty field. However, when Erdinç Sezertam called penalty, referee Bülent Yıldırım showed a sign of respect to his assistant referee's decision.
